Open Positions & Role Responsibilities
Nomination & Election Process
The Hixson PTO Executive Committee seeks dedicated parents to serve as voting officers for the 2026-27 school year beginning June 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027. The descriptions of the open roles are listed below. Position descriptions include but are not limited to the responsibilities provided.
Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 11:59pm. Self-nominate or nominate another current or incoming 6th grade Hixson parent/guardian.
Following receipt of your nomination form, the nominee will be contacted to confirm interest.
Elections will be held at the final Hixson PTO community meeting of the year on May 7 at 6:00pm. Candidates should plan to attend. Questions? Contact hixsonmiddlepto@gmaill.org!
Co-President: The Co-Presidents provide overall leadership for the PTO, working collaboratively to guide the organization’s goals, support its volunteers, and strengthen connections between families, staff, and the school community. They oversee meetings, coordinate events and committees, and ensure the PTO operates effectively and in alignment with its mission. Experience leading a multi-faceted team is helpful.
Co-Vice President: The Co-Vice Presidents supports helps bring events and initiatives to life. This role serves as aid to the Co-Presidents and leads in their absence, coordinates the work of standing committees, and oversees volunteer coordination for committees and events as needed.
Co-Secretary: The Co-Secretaries keeps the PTO organized and informed by documenting meetings, maintaining records, auditing and maintaining bylaws, and supporting communication efforts by sharing agendas, meetings, and important updates.
Co-Treasurer: The Co-Treasurers oversees the PTO’s finances - manages day-to-day budgeting/bookkeeping and annual budget planning, tracks income and expenses, and ensures funds are used responsibly to support students, staff, and school programs. Receive all monies, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, disburse funds, present a statement of account at every meeting, make a summary report at the last meeting of the year, file all annual corporate registration reports with the Secretary of State, federal tax reporting, maintains insurance and state licensure and permitting. Accounting experience is needed.
Co-Communications Officer: The Co-Communications Officers keeps everyone by managing newsletters (PTO Newsletter & Hixson Happenings PTO Newsflash), social media, the PTO website, and and other platforms to promote PTO events and ensure families and staff stay informed, engaged, and connected. For the 2026-27 school year, the PTO board is seeking a parent/guardian to manage the PTO's Facebook and Instagram pages, regularly update the PTO's website content, and annual contact database update. Membership Toolkit experience is helpful but not required. Content management experience is strongly recommended.
